Slovene Partisans
My Father was helped by Partisans at Semic during WW11. In 1944 he escaped from a German POW camp in Austria. He died five years ago and told me little of his story but as his only child I have always been affected by what happened to him in the war. Now I have begun to research and realised that hundreds of British and other nationalities were helped by partisans in the Bella Krajina area of Slovenia. Is there anyone who can tell me more? I would be especially interested to talk to families of partisans. I hope to visit in the near future and see this beautiful place for myself as I feel I owe a big debt to the people of Bella Krajina.
Yours with love

Strutzel or Strucl
Hi,
I was told my family immigrated to the USA from Crnomelj and that our name was originally spelled Strucl. I thought I would check out Crnomelj on a web search and here I am so I thought I would leave a posting.

Mrs. Spalla
I am looking for info regarding Anton Papic, son of Matthias & Mary Pruss Papic, born 6/6/1873 and immigrated to US via Baltimore, in April of 1891. Also, info on Frances Usenicnik born 3/9/1884, daughter of George & Mary Taucher Usenicnik (later changed to Usnick). Siblings were John, Steve, Andrew, George, Mary * Kathryn. Not sure when Frances immigrated. They had an arranged marriage, apparently Frances had nice dowry. They were married in Bridgeville, Southwestern Pennsylvania, in Sept, 1900. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

NEMANIC & REZEK
My great-grandmother MARIJA NEMANIC came to the United States around 1889 or 1890.Her sister ANNA NEMANIC (NOVOGRADAC)came about the same time, with her daughter MARY NOVOGRADAC, they may have traveled together. MARIJA was born about 1863 or 1865. Their parents were JOHN (IVAN) NEMANIC & MARY MOSCAKO(it may not be the right spelling.)
I know very little about my great-grandfather GEORGE REZEK. He was born about 1863 or 1865. His parents names are MICHAEL (MARCUS) REZEK & BARBARA KRASNNER (that spelling may not be correct)GEORGE came to the United States in the late 1880's; and setteled in Johnstown, PA. There was a MARKO REZEK that lived in the same house as GEORGE until 1900. He may have been GEORGE's brother or cousin.
I would like to hear from anyone with any information on these names.
Thank You, Bonnie

Majerle Family
Hello,
My name is Gerald Mierle. My grandfather Marc Majerle changed his name to Mierle when he came from Slovenia around 1900. He lived in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan in Calumet. His son, my father was named Marcus P. Mierle and also lived in Michigan. My grandfather had a brother George and one named Peter who had gone to Brazil. My great grandfather never left Slovenia and was named Marc, Marko or Mikal. I believe they were from near Dol, Slovenia. My father Marcus Paul Mierle was born in Calumet, Michigan and had 3 brothers Matthew, Luke and John and 4 sisters Catherine, Bertha, Pauline, and Marcella.
I live in Virginia but have a lot of relatives in Michigan.
Any Information on the family tree would be appreciated.
